Censorship — not being able to have a personal life outside of the role of being a teacher.

The boys club within the administration.

The money — spending so much of my own money on supplies that I had to get a job as a waiter outside of my full-time position so that I could afford the things I wanted for my classroom, pay rent, save for the future, and have a shred of a personal life.

No one having my back. The amount of times I’ve been thrown under the bus for the sake of a parent.

Taking a day off of work to catch up on work.

The glorified Hollywood versions of teachers that we’re expected to fit into but don’t because it’s not realistic.

Also, my name is Ms. Nelson, so it felt as if you were writing about me haha.
